PERSONAL HEALTH INFORMATION PRIVACY
Knollcrest Lodge has always been committed to keeping client/resident personal health information accurate, confidential, secure and private. In an era where technology enables access to personal health information within and across organizations, it is essential that we continually revisit existing practices and procedures and update them as needed.
To this end, we are in the process of enhancing our information management practices. Our process of enhancement has been enabled by privacy requirements that are based on provincial health privacy legislation, the Personal Health Information and Protection Act (PHIPA) as well as 10 privacy principles, which are internationally accepted as the basis for privacy practices.
We are pleased to inform you that we are revitalizing our privacy practices and developing a plan consistent with PHIPA and the privacy principles. PHIPA and these principles provide a privacy framework for the management of personal health information. By implementing this framework, our organization will be better positioned to provide greater protection of personal health information.
We are pleased to announce that the Privacy Implementation Project will be led by the Home's Administrator, Susan Rae. We have also appointed a Steering Committee to coordinate this Home's Privacy activities. Members of the committee include: o Susan Rae, Administrator & Privacy Officer o Jackie Yost, Director of Resident Care o Darlene Raycraft, Business and Finance Manager o Dianne Lichti, Commmunity Outreach Manager o Lorrie Plein, Dietary Manager
Watch for regular updates on the Privacy Project. We will keep you informed of our progress and look forward to your contributions to this important project.
The Board of Directors, Knollcrest Lodge
